it's old

really old, actually. but i didn't have a blog when the story broke, so i'm doing it now:
In a stark departure from past practice, the American Cancer Society plans to devote its entire $15 million advertising budget this year not to smoking cessation or colorectal screening but to the consequences of inadequate health coverage.

sad. a once-great charity putting socialized medicine above the actual need to combat cancer. eugene volokh says it best:
Shouldn't donations to the American Cancer Society be used specifically to combat cancer, and not on general health care issues, like access to health care?
